The logis de France Fontarabie was built in 1520. Republic Street didn’t exist then and the building was in the middle of a field near the river Vendée.At every great fair in Fontenay le Comte, spanish merchants from Fuenterrabia (a town in the Basque country) accompanied their woolen balls and their dwarfish horses to exchange them for mules of Vendée.That’s how the hotel Fontarabie was born... The hotel has kept the charm of its past, but was also recently refurbished…Situated in the town centre of Fontenay le Comte, the Fontarabie avails of a private car park and comprises of 49 charming and comfortable bedrooms… |
